Resident Tutor
Felipe Zarate
As a Resident Tutor at St John’s College, Felipe supports students in their academic progress and wider collegiate experience, while helping to foster a friendly and inclusive college community. Felipe also contributes to student life as a PGR Rep in the Philosophy Department.
As a PhD student in Philosophy, Felipe’s current research seeks to answer the question: What is True in Fiction? To answer that, he engages with debates in metaphysics about what is fiction, in epistemology about what is truth, and in aesthetics about how artworks deploy fiction. He also works on Ancient Greece philosophy and classical studies, especially Aristotle and Greek tragedy and comedy. His recent publications include translations and commentaries on Aristophanes’ The Clouds, Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound and Thucydides’ The Melian Dialogue.
