Music, theatre and performance at John’s

John’s Music Society (JMS) and the Bailey Theatre Company (BTC) are the College’s resident performing arts societies. Both are student-led and offer opportunities to perform, collaborate, and gain hands-on experience in directing, production, and event planning.

In the summer months, the College gardens and riverside amphitheatre host outdoor performances, from Shakespeare to live music during John’s Day, Pride and the Eco Festival.

The Chapel Choir also plays a central role in the musical life of the College, singing weekly services, College occasions and external performances throughout the year.

Music across the College is supported by the Director of Music, who also directs the Chapel Choir, helping to sustain a strong culture of performance at John’s.
