Governance

St John’s College, Durham is a recognised College of Durham University and incorporates Cranmer Hall. As an independent institution, it is responsible for its own governance and strategic direction.

The College Council is the governing body of St John’s, overseeing strategy, finances and the long-term sustainability of the College.

As recognised College of Durham University St John’s College, Durham is a registered charity (No. 1141701) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 00113496).

Governance

The College Council serves as the governing body of St John’s, responsible for overseeing its strategy, finances, and long-term wellbeing. Council members act as the College’s trustees and directors, bringing expertise from higher education, business, and the wider community to guide and support the College’s mission.

Management

The College Officers form the senior management team, sustaining the College’s ethos, fulfilling its mission, and implementing its strategy on behalf of Council.

It is a great privilege to be a member of the Council, a body which works well together, unafraid to challenge whilst seeking the very best for the College, now and in the future.
