Safeguarding

St John’s is committed to creating a safe, supportive and respectful environment for students, staff, visitors and the wider community.

Our Safeguarding team

Our safeguarding team is available to provide support, guidance and respond to safeguarding concerns. A safeguarding concern is a worry that a child, young person, or adult at risk may be experiencing, or be at risk of, abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

Concerns will be listened to sensitively and taken seriously. The College will consider appropriate next steps, which may include support, advice, referral to specialist services, or action to help keep people safe. Not every concern results in formal action, but we encourage people to raise concerns early.

Safeguarding Policy

Our Safeguarding Policy sets out how we promote safeguarding, respond to concerns and support a culture of shared responsibility across the College.

Student safety and wellbeing concerns

We understand that parents, carers, friends and relatives may sometimes be concerned about a student’s wellbeing, safety or ability to cope.

While we are not normally able to share personal information about students without their consent, we can receive concerns and act on them appropriately. This may include checking on a student’s welfare, making them aware of support available, or asking them to contact you.

If you are concerned about a student at St John’s, please contact Reception on 0191 334 3500 or email the Student Support team at [email protected].
