Laura Rowland
Laura’s role spans several key areas that directly support students, staff, and visitors. Through her combined responsibilities as Library Assistant, Reception Supervisor, Student Support Administrator, and Accommodation and Admissions Administrator, she contributes to many of the College’s essential services and helps ensure that its community feels supported, informed, and welcomed.
A key element of Laura’s role is to support students and staff this can be in a variety of way such as assisting with book loans, cataloguing materials, managing enquiries, and ensuring that study spaces are kept tidy and accessible. Guiding reception staff, coordinating visitor access, managing phone and email queries, and ensuring that anyone arriving at the College receives clear, friendly assistance. Laura also assists students throughout their time at the College. She helps manage student support enquiries, coordinates support processes, signposts students to appropriate services, and works closely with staff involved in student wellbeing. Laura also assists with key stages of the student journey—from first contact to settling into College life. She supports the admissions process by handling documentation, communicating with applicants. She also coordinates accommodation allocations, correspondence, and records.
Across all these areas, Laura works closely with students, administrative staff, and University colleagues. Her cross‑departmental involvement helps connect different parts of the College, ensuring consistency, clarity, and continuity of service.
She is a part of several teams including the VP Office, Library team and Reception that provides a wide range of student‑facing and operational services. These teams can crossover in their responsibilities which include library services, reception and front‑of‑house operations, accommodation management and admissions tasks, and student support and enrichment.
Laura studied at the University of Hull and gained a Zoology degree.
Laura has been a part of the St John’s team for over 5 years and brings experience and knowledge of varying patterns of the academic year. Laura has strong skills in customer facing service, information management, and the organisation of complex processes involving students and staff. She has experience working in environments where accuracy, confidentiality, and strong organisation are essential.
