Welcome to

international students

We’re delighted to welcome students from all over the world to St John’s — your home away from home in Durham.

Every year, St John’s welcomes students from across the globe who enrich our community with their experiences and perspectives. Whether you’re arriving in the UK for the first time or returning to study, our team will help you settle in and feel at home.

From the moment you arrive, our volunteers and staff are here to guide you through every step. You’ll join a small, close-knit College where people quickly get to know one another, and where kindness and curiosity are part of daily life.

Support and community

Our Student Support team, Resident Tutors, and Common Rooms work closely to help all students feel known and supported. From social events and formals to wellbeing activities and mentoring, there are many ways to connect and build community.

Kaylyn, International student

Despite being an ocean away from my hometown, John’s quickly became my home away from home. I truly can’t imagine my university experience anywhere else.
